engineers work hard to develop, test and manufacture our tuners to the highest
level in the industry. Don’t be led into believing “New Zealand designed for
New Zealand conditions” as there are no diesel engines even produced in
New Zealand, most are produced in Europe or Asia.
How do they work?
By regulating the fuel delivery and time of fuel delivery to the
engine we optimize the power. Some of our tuners regulate the diesel pump
delivery (VP style) while the common rail tuners regulate the pressure of the
fuel to optimize timing and quantity of diesel delivered on each revolution. By
working with the signal from the ECU (output side of the ECU) and making 1000s
of calculations per second we do not disturb the factory safety features while
enhancing power and drivability.
Will the tuner wear my engine
quicker? The tuner enhances the performance and drivability of your engine. In
turn it has more power, this is actually easier on the engine as it doesn’t need
to work as hard to get the same power. Depending on how hard you thrash your
vehicle will determine the lifespan of your engine, and remember, leaving a
diesel engine idling for long periods damages it and reduces its lifespan
contrary to popular belief.
How do you claim
better fuel economy as well as more power?
Simple, because we “clean up” the signal from the ECU we in turn make
the engine more efficient. Most manufacturers work in a range of 1-10 of how it
should run and generally are about 3, we make sure your engine always runs at
10.
But isn’t
New Zealand’s diesel of a poor quality?
No, New Zealand diesel fuel is manufactured to the same standard if
not better than European Diesel fuel. I am sure VW, Toyota, Fiat, Citroen, and
all the other Diesel engine makers wouldn’t sell there cars here if the fuel was
bad!
My friend installed a “tuner”
that plugged straight into the computer. Why are yours after the computer? Some tuners on the market simply make the ECU think the engine is
running cold (installed high side of the ECU but comes with a nice plug!), you
can make this simple tuner at home with a soldering iron and some resistors. It
is likely the power gain will be minimal if at all and you could likely blow up
your engine and they are not adjustable. It surprises me how they sell them for
$1300 when the cost to make one is about .75c, honestly that is all it would
cost.
Can I laptop adjust the tuner? NO we do not allow a provision for so-called laptop tuning with our
tuners. Specific tuning software really sets Diesel Power ™Tuners apart
from the rest so our tuning specifications are a closely guarded secret. We do
not recommend any attempt to pull the software from our tuner.
What causes diesel engines to blow
up when they produce more than standard power? Some
tuners when installed just make the engine run richer, yes more power but it
does increase exhaust temperatures which is the enemy of a diesel engine. Diesel
Power ™ tuners when installed properly cannot harm the engine and in all cases
use less fuel than before installation.
Can I fit an exhaust system to get
more power too? In a lot of cases fitting just a bigger exhaust system will
cause a loss of power because of a drop in exhaust temperature (about 5hp for
every 50 degrees drop in exhaust temp). Fitting one of our tuners will help fill
the gap caused by fitting a bigger exhaust and produce more power. The tuner on
its own will produce more power than any other modification you can do. It is
also the most cost effective modification for results verses cost.
Will
the Diesel Power module cause any damage to the transmission?
No, however hard driving styles or abuse can cause
damage to transmissions even at stock power levels.
Will the Diesel Power module
improve fuel efficiency? Yes, based
on your driving style you may see a 8% improvement in fuel efficiency due to the
significant increase in low RPM
torque. Fuel efficiency will vary due to individual driving styles.
Can the Diesel Power module
put any strain or cause any damage to my engine?
The Diesel Power module is designed and programmed
in every case to improve the vehicles performance no more than the engines
safety limits will allow, our module is programmed very carefully to insure no
extra strain is put on the engine and all of its components such as turbo and
injection equipment. To this day we have never had an incident where our module
has caused any engine related problems. The life of an engine is determined by
how it is driven and looked after. We have installed many Diesel Power modules
on older, high mileage cars and have cars that have been using the module for
years without any problems.
Is there a warranty on the Diesel
Power module? Yes, we give a
3 year direct replacement warranty for any faulty Diesel Power module.
Will the Diesel Power module
make my car smoke? If your vehicle
does not smoke already then the answer is no, if your vehicle already smokes
then in many cases, the module helps
clear up your emissions, due to the increase of efficiency in your injection
equipment.
Fitting and maintenance?
Fitting varies from vehicle to vehicle,
but in most cases it takes no more than 15 minutes The Diesel Power module
requires no maintenance at all.
What are the terms
of the 30 day money back guarantee? The limited 30 day money back
guarantee* offer only applies if the vehicle for which the tuner was purchased
does not show a increase in either torque or performance after the product has
been installed by comparison to the vehicles previous performance. Please note
